Number 54: How about you?Hello everybody!

Hello everybody!

In this post we will look at a very simple conversation technique and a very useful phrase.

Have a look at the dialogue below:

 

Frank: So, have you stayed in this hotel before?

George: No, this is the first time. I usually stay at the Grand Hotel when I’m in town. How about you? Have you stayed here before?

Frank: Yes, I always stay here. In fact, this is my sixth time this year!

George: Really? You travel a lot!

 

After George has answered Frank’s question, he uses the phrase “How about you?” and then repeats Frank’s question. This is a useful way of turning the question around and keeping the conversation going.
