Number 72: red tape

Hello everybody!

Let’s have a look at the following term:

red tape

Definition:

complicated and often time-consuming tasks that a government or organisation requires you to do in order to get or do something

Also known as: bureaucracy

Examples:

I can’t believe there is so much red tape involved in such a simple request.

All of this red tape makes it very difficult to get things done on time.

We had to go through so much red tape when we were planning our new house.

I hope your day doesn’t involve too much red tape!

All the best,

Derek
